Openly gay candidate still in running for North Miami mayor

After the primary election May 14, an openly gay candidate is still in the running for the office of North Miami mayor.

During the campaign, Kevin Burns’ talking points consisted of the city’s privatized garbage services and apparently he has a bone to pick with the local parking authority.

Burns will face Lucie Tondreau in the run-off election on June 4. In the primaries, Tondreau received 28% of the vote and Burns received 33%.

The third candidate in the primaries, Anna Pierre, claimed to be endorsed by Jesus Christ. After she finished last in the primaries, she made a statement on her Facebook page that the city chose Lucifer over the Son of God.

Current North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre terms out this year.
