Broadway deal reached for Dr. Philips Center

The team behind The Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts has reached a deal with the Broadway Consortium – a five-year co-presenting partnership that kicks off for the 2014/2015 Broadway season.

The Broadway Consortium is comprised of Broadway Across America (BAA), PTG Florida and Florida Theatrical Association (FTA).

The parties involved are not releasing details about the agreement, but according to a media release, the framework of the offer is significantly better than the offer outlined at the completion of The Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts’ original RFP process last year.

“We initially chose to self-present, however, we had an opportunity to improve the business deal, which brought us back into negotiations.” said Jim Pugh, board chairman of the Dr. Phillips Center, in a media release.

“This is a win for the community and FTA looks forward continuing its statewide mission of building new audiences for the presentation of touring Broadway,” said Ron Legler, FTA president.
