Zebra Foundation receives $500,000 grant

The Zebra Foundation for Youth will receive $500,000 over the next eight years from the Bryce L. West Foundation. The Zebra Foundation helps to create and sustain programs that directly support LGBTQ youth, primarily through the Zebra Coalition, which is a network of Central Florida organizations, schools and service providers that provide services to LGBT youth.

â┚¬Å”We are pleased to make this donation through the Zebra Foundation for Youth to support the incredible work that the Zebra Coalition is doing in the Central Florida community,â┚¬Â said Bryce West, executive director of the Bryce L. West Foundation and board member of the Zebra Foundation for Youth, in a media release. â┚¬Å”It is the only organization in Central Florida that provides a full continuum of services to this at-risk group of youth.â┚¬Â

West's Foundation supports various Central Florida arts, education and service organizations.

â┚¬Å”By making this gift, we can ensure that future donations, gifts, grants and other financial assistance to the Zebra Foundation for Youth will go directly to client services,â┚¬Â West said.

According to a media release from the Zebra Coalition, the money will be used to renovate and operate the Zebra House, on Mills Ave. in Orlando, which provides office space to Zebra Coalition staff and will also offer case management and counseling; medical services; a food, hygiene and clothing bank; laundry and shower facilities; education and career support; a resource library; and a computer center to at-risk LGBTQ youth.
