Black HIV/AIDS Awarness day observed
A community wide coalition of agencies led by the Multi-Cultural Addictions Network hosted a series of events Feb. 7 in recognition of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. In addition to testing at various sites across Orlando, the coalition organized a screening of Unsung Heroes in the downtown library, a candlelight memorial and a community forum. It was the 12th national observance of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and the 10th anniversary of Orlando's observance National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

Schools get tools to support LGBT students
The Orlando chapter of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) partnered with Orange County Public Schools to distribute 85 â┚¬Å”Safe Space Kits,â┚¬Â which contain teaching materials promoting concrete strategies to support LGBT students. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida funded the initiative.

The Center and ACLU to host adoption seminar
On Feb. 25, the Center and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) will host an adoption seminar at the Center, starting at 4 p.m. The event will include a screening of the documentary In Anita's Wake. Additionally, representatives from Community Based Care of Central Florida will be on hand to discuss adoption and foster parenting with potential parents.
