Catching Ideas with Coffee

Catching Ideas with Coffee

â┚¬Å”My mother always told me, even if a song has been done a thousand times, you can still bring something of your own to it. I’d like to think I did that.â┚¬Â â┚¬â€œ Etta James

Huffington Post has started a new feature called “Obsessed” where writers explain â┚¬â€œ or, more accurately, try to explain â┚¬â€œ why they just can’t live without something. I thought the current column by the always quirky David Lynch would be appropriate for a post reminding you about the upcoming Do-Gooder’s Coffee Klatch. Read David’s Obsessed.

After a holiday break, The Do-Gooder’s Coffee Klatch will resume its usually monthly meeting on the last Wednesday of every month in the apathy-free zone of The Coffeehouse @ Downtown Credo. If you know how to read your calendar, you’ll see the next one is this Wednesday, January 25.

We started The Do-Gooder’s Coffee Klatch last year to help people who are out there doing some good. In a casual atmosphere, people who work for non-profits or who are out there doing good on their own, share three things they are looking for. Then we try to brainstorm ideas for them, consider if we might be able to help directly, and finally I post the 3×5 cards on which the person has written their needs to the Scottie Saves the World Facebook fanpage.

Think you might like to join us? “Coffee has always seemed to facilitate thinking and catching ideas,” writes David Lynch. I bet you’ll find out he may be on to something.
