“Because we don’t think about future generations, they will never forget us.” – Henrik Tikkanen

Did you notice today is Tuesday? My apologies for being a day late with your Ripples – my Monday kind of got away from me. I guess it’s not such a bad thing to get your week to a roaring start such that you can’t get everything done.

At any rate, here they are, your Monday Ripples, links that I hope inspire you in the week ahead…

It’s Easy Working Green

Blue Green Alliance
I always find it interesting when pro-development politicians run on an “it will create jobs” platform. That’s all well and good, if it isn’t destroying our home in the process. Develop wisely, my friends. And when it comes to creating jobs, we have quite a bit of work to do when it comes to greening our country. The Blue Green Alliance is a national partnership between labor unions and environmentalists to expand the number and quality of green-type jobs. The organization currently on the road with its The Job’s Not Done Tour and it could be stopping in your city.

Comply or Pay
Cleveland residents get RFID-equipped recycling
There’s a temptation to get judgmental when you have set out to do good. For me that judgment rears its ugly head when it comes to recycling. In my hometown we have a recycling program where all you have to do is put the recycling in the bin and put it at the curb with your garbage – and yet time and again I’ll run across friends and family who are not recycling. Well, Cleveland has had enough of that, and is now fining people $100 for not recycling.

The Right Thong to Do

PACT
I ask you, what better way is there than to save the world in your underwear? Impossible, you say? PACT sells stylish undies, designed by Yves Behar, made with organic cotton and sustainable materials, and shipped in a compostable envelope. That alone melts your do-gooder heart, I’m sure, but there’s more: the company gives 10% of every sale to one of its non-profit partners, namely Oceana, Green Belt Movement, ForestEthics, 826 National, Global Green USA.
