Gay marriage foes begin national tour in Maine
Gay-marriage opponents who put hundreds of thousands of dollars into the successful effort to keep the practice out of Maine have kicked off a “One Man, One Woman” 23-city bus tour. The National Organization for Marriage began the tour July 14 in Augusta. NOM’s bus tour is scheduled to make a Florida stop in Tampa on August 8.

Gays march in Poland to demand equal rights
Nearly 8,000 gays and lesbians from around Europe marched through Poland’s capital July 17 to demand equal rights and more tolerance in the heavily Roman Catholic nation. The parade was part of the EuroPride Gay Rights Festival. Police said they arrested eight people—some of whom threw eggs and rocks—for trying to disturb the march.
