Just a week or so after the Houston Astros hosted its first ever Pride Night that drew nearly 1,000 LGBTs and supporters, the Minnesota Twins introduced its “Out in the Stands” event.
According to Lavender Magazine, which is Minnesota’s leading LGBT publication and the organizer of the event, more than 1,200 tickets were sold for the Friday, July 16, game against the Chicago White Sox.
The $25 tickets sold for the Twins game included a pre- and post-party and a T-shirt. Both clubs also introduced the night during key matchups. The Twins faced the St. Louis Cardinals during its Pride Night.
Both organizations have expressed their support of the night and more LGBT-themed events could be in the works later in the season. In Florida, the Tampa Bay Rays have hosted LGBT nights during St. Pete Pride month, but not for the past few years. It’s unclear whether the Rays will return to promoting LGBT-themed ticketed events.
